Who Uses the IDA-2

The IDA2 is administered by experienced professionals in the full range of developmental disciplines including child development specialists, early childhood special educators, early intervention professionals, nurses and nurse practitioners, occupational and physical therapists, speech and language pathologists, physicians (neonatologists, pediatricians, family practice, child psychiatrists), physician assistants, psychologists, and social workers.

Those who provide assessments using the IDA-2 function as ‘developmental generalists’ and also contribute the expertise of their own discipline throughout the assessment process. While those administering the IDA-2 may begin with different professional backgrounds, practice, and experience, the IDA-2 provides a valid and reliable assessment that will have the same result regardless of discipline.

IDA-2 Results

IDA-2 is criterion-referenced with results that determine the need for monitoring, consultation, intervention, or other services for the child and family, and may be used to develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). The assessment process considers the complexity and interdependence of health, family, and emotional/social factors that influence a child’s development.

The IDA-2 measures all domains of child development and is a best practice measure.
